The Ontario Player Development League (OPDL) is one of the province’s first standards-based, youth high performance league that combines top level competition with strict high performance training standards.

OPDL represents young players’ early graduation to a genuine high performance training environment, targeting the top athletes in the province from age groups U13 to U17, constituting the highest level of competitive youth soccer in Ontario!

Registration Details:

  1. ALL PLAYERS must register on PowerUp Sports before participating. Please look for the following product: 2022 NMSC ID Sessions
  2. New Player to NMSC? Please create an account on PowerUp. When creating the account, please add a parent/guardian to your profile first, then add a player.
  3. All players and spectators U12+ must show proof of vaccination before entering the Dome.
  4. All players must wear a mask to-and-from the field.
  5. All players must bring their own water bottle and sanitizer.
  6. All players must wear shin pads and cleats.
  7. Player Assessment protocols are subject to change based on government COVID-19 regulations.

OPDL Trial Phases:

Phase I – Non-OPDL players only

  • Objective: Identify Players Outside OPDL Environments
  • Activities: Open Trials and Invitation Only Trial

Phase II – OPDL Players

  • Objective: Select Full Time Players
  • Activity: Open Trials and Invitation Only Trial

Phase III – Any player

  • Objective: Identify Additional Players, if applicable
  • Activity: Open Trials and Invitation Only Trial


  • To ensure uniformity across the province and between OPDL Licence Holders regarding the windows for OPDL Trials, Licence Holders are to adhere to the following windows:
  • Current Non-OPDL Players may begin trials as of Monday, September 13th, 2021 (this window includes players born 2009, the 2022 Season’s U13 in-take).
  • Current OPDL Players may begin trials for the 2022 season at the conclusion of the 2021 OPDL Season, as of Monday, November 8th, 2021.
  • For those wishing to transfer between Licence Holders, written consent is required from their current Licence Holder as the Player Commitment Letter is valid until December 31st, 2021.

OPDL Player Commitment Letters:

If your child has been selected for the team, the 2022 OPDL Player Commitment Letter will be distributed to parents to review and sign via DocuSign. The OPDL Player Commitment Letter must be signed to complete player registration.
