The objective of the OPDL Team Head Coach is to lead a team in the High Performance stream of the club. The position is to utilize players from the club as well as recruit top talent into the program to develop players for the pinnacle of our club, League1 Ontario. Job Responsibilities

 

  • Developing the soccer players on the Coach’s team, including but not limited to the development of their individual soccer skills, their team play, and their attitude and enthusiasm for the game, including good sportsmanship; 
  • Acting as a positive role model and an ambassador of North Mississauga Soccer Club;
  • Abiding by all OPDL rules and regulations;
  • Attending all mandatory coach education events put on by the OPDL and/or North Mississauga;
  • Abiding by policies and procedures of North Mississauga Soccer, Peel Halton District, OS and the Canadian Soccer Association (the “CSA”), as published or amended;
  • Ensuring that younger players (U15 and younger) are never left alone at any location, such as after a practice or game, unless a NMSC Registered Adult accepts full responsibility for such player
  • Exhibiting a positive attitude towards players, parents, opponents, and officials;
  • Designing and implementing training sessions based on the OPDL curriculum to challenge and develop players;
  • Creating a Development Plan based on the 4-corner approach and delivering classroom sessions based on the Development Plan;
  • Attending all training sessions, games, and tournament games, unless other arrangements are made with the Technical Leadership of the club;
  • Exhibiting preparedness and timeliness at the commencement of each practice;
  • Establishing expectations for players as to their readiness to begin practice, and their preparation prior to games;
  • Communicating clearly and positively to players and parents regarding the Coach’s expectations for players;
  • Finding opportunities to provide playing time for all players who have met the Coach’s expectations; and
  • Preparing Ontario Soccer matrices and submitting them in a timely manner throughout the year as required by Ontario Soccer.
