About Mustapha:
Mustapha migrated to Canada in 1988 from Trinidad and Tobago. Having played soccer in Trinidad and in University in England he quickly got involved in playing pick up soccer at the company he work with. Then he played for a while in a men’s league. While walking around a soccer field he struck up a conversation with a gentleman named Don Evans who was at the time a member of the NMSC board. He immediately got involved in coaching at the house league level in 1997. Over the past 18 years Mustapha has coached at all levels with our club.
Mustapha volunteered to carry the torch as he felt this was the ultimate sporting event and possibly the last opportunity he would have. Lady luck struck as he was amongst another 2999 volunteers selected by the Pan Am torch relay committee from across the country.
Mustapha says he will use this opportunity to show the young athletes whom he coaches that dreams do come true. He encourages all young athletes to aim for the sky and dream big in both their studies and soccer.
