North Mississauga Soccer Club is pleased to announce that Sanford Carabin has been selected as its new Technical Director.
As Technical Director, Carabin will be responsible for the overall management and direction of the technical growth and development within the Club. As such, he will be in charge of setting a vision and strategy for all technical aspects at North Mississauga, including coach education, long term player development (LTPD), elite player pathway, and all other technical-related or sport specific initiatives.
“The North Mississauga Soccer Club is excited to have an individual with the experience, knowledge and respect in Ontario to take on this crucial portfolio within the organization,” said Joe Alves, President. “We look forward to having him lead the technical development of our Club based on his long-standing commitment to soccer in Ontario.”
“Having spent the past 20 plus years in the sport of soccer as a player, coach, agent, scout and administrator, becoming the North Mississauga Technical Director provides me with an incredible opportunity to apply this experience to further grow and develop the game at the Club and in Ontario,” stated Sanford Carabin. He added that “my priority will be to maximize the participation base at the Club, augment coach and match official education, develop players within the recreational, development and high-performance streams and create/enhance community programs to ensure North Mississauga is a successful Member Club in Ontario.”
As the recent District Technical Director for Durham Region, Carabin began his coaching career in 1999 with Wexford SC and moved on to lead several Clubs, Academies and Colleges over a 20-year period including: Markham SC, Bryst Academy, Brampton Youth Soccer Club and the Seneca College Men’s Program. In addition, he has coached a Men’s Team in League 1 Ontario since the leagues inception and most recently served as an assistant coach with the Jamaican Women’s Senior National Team that participated in the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup in France. Carabin holds a CSA National B License, USSF A License and is currently completing part 2 of his UEFA A License.
