2019 Recreational Fun Day/Active Start Fest is on Saturday, August 24th!

Come out and celebrate the end of the 2019 Outdoor Recreational Season with us!

The Annual Recreational Fun Day (also known as the Canada Soccer Active Start Festival) is on Saturday, August 24th, 2019. We hope that you are excited as we are. There will be tons of fun activities to enjoy throughout the day!

The event will be at Churchill Meadows Common Park from 10:00am – 4:30pm. The address is 3370 McDowell Drive, Mississauga, ON.

Events at the Fun Day:

We will have many fun activities on-site all day. Last year we had Human Foosball, Soccer Darts, Jumping Castles, Obstacle Courses, a FIFA Video Game Tournament, and more! Everything will be on Field #1 (closest to McDowell Drive). Everything will begin at 10:00 am, so get ready to jump, roll, kick, and have a great time.

Parking:

There are four schools around Churchill Meadows. There is plenty of parking around. Sponsors, Staff, Event Volunteers, and Vendors will have reserved parking in the small lot off of McDowell Drive. If you choose to park on the road, please abide by parking signs to avoid receiving a ticket.

Awards Ceremony:

All NMSC Recreational League players/teams will receive their awards on this day during their scheduled time. Please arrive early before your time – as we have 2,000 players to get awards done for! We cannot give players their medals early if a player is unable to attend their scheduled time.

Coach of the Year Awards:

Each division of our Recreational League will present a “Coach of the Year” Award. The award winners will be announced at FUN Day (during the age group’s scheduled award time). Please help us in honouring these fantastic volunteers that have been working with your players all summer.

Teammate of the Year Awards:

At the Awards Ceremonies – a player from each team (U9+) will be selected by their Team’s coach to receive the “2019 Teammate of the Year Award”. This award is to showcase players’ sportsmanship, teamwork, effort, and hard work that they have put in this season. Congrats to all participants in the league this year.

Saturday Programs:
The final U3/4, U5/6, and U7/8 Saturday division sessions/games will be played at Churchill Meadows on Field #4 (closest field to Thomas St and Stephen Lewis Secondary School) instead of the usual Rotary Park. Our BU9/10 division will play at Samuelson Park with no changes.

Playoff Schedule:

The U14 and U16 divisions will be battling for the right to reign supreme throughout the day at Churchill Meadows and O’Connor Park. Matches kick-off at 9:00am and run through 4:00pm. It will be an exciting day of Footy!  Playoffs are on the PowerUp System

Festival Food:

For the second year, the local Lion’s Club will be preparing and serving food on-site. They will be providing each player/volunteer with a Halal Hot Dog, a snack, and a water/juice. Families can purchase additional food. There are no substitutions for food choices.

Players and volunteers will come to the ticket table to receive their food ticket – you must be wearing your 2019 North Mississauga Soccer Club jersey to get a ticket.

Recreational Volunteers, please let Arielle, amccarthy@nmsc.net, know if you are not able to attend the FUN Day ASAP.

Equipment Drop-off:

Recreational Coaches, please return your equipment bag at the drop-off truck location. If you are unable to bring the equipment bag on Saturday, please bring it to the clubhouse the following week.

Contingency Plan:

The NMSC Fun Day is a rain or shine event! In the case of a thunder/lightning storm we will wait 30 minutes for it to clear up. Participants will be asked to move to a safe place for the time being.

For the teams that have games scheduled on Saturday, we will follow the same protocol: in the case of thunder/lightning storm we will wait 30 minutes for it to clear up. If the game has reached the 40th min, it will be considered complete. If the game has not reached the 40th minute, it will be postponed and rescheduled for the following week.

We will be updating our social media with live weather updates throughout the day. Please check out our Facebook and Twitter accounts to stay updated! (Follow us: NMSC_Panthers on Twitter, North Mississauga Soccer Club on Facebook)

Volunteers:

We are looking for 15-20 volunteers to assist with the event. If you interested in volunteering please contact Ryan, rflammini@nmsc.net . It will be a great opportunity to complete volunteer hours while giving back to the club!
