The Annual House League Fun Day (also known as the Canada Soccer Active Start Festival) is this Saturday, August 25th! We hope you are excited as we are!
Our mission for 2018 is to include the entire club, Recreational and Competitive, OPDL & League1 Ontario players, and volunteers in this event. We are inviting all players, coaches, and families to come to the North Mississauga Fun Day/Canada Soccer Active Start Festival. There will be tons of fun activities throughout the day!
Competitive/OPDL/League1 managers, please contact Chris Keem, ckeem@nmsc.net, for the information on the day related to competitive players here at the club.
The event will be at Churchill Meadows Common Park from 10am – 5pm. The address is 3370 McDowell Drive, Mississauga, ON.
Festival Food:
This year we have partnered with local Service Club, the Lion’s Club. They are going to be providing each player/volunteer with a Halal Hot Dog, Rice Krispy Treat, and a drink.
Families can purchase additional food (there are no substitutions for food choices).
Players and volunteers will come to the Fun Day Control center (AKA the Gazeebo area near the splash pad off of McDowell Dr) to receive their ticket – you must be wearing your North Mississauga Soccer Club jersey to get a ticket.
House League Volunteers, please let Arielle, amccarthy@nmsc.net, know if you are not able to make the Fun Day ASAP.
Events at the Fun Day:
We will have Human Foosball, Soccer Darts, Jumping Castle’s, Obstacle Courses, and more going on at the Park. Everything will be in the North of the Park near McDowell Drive. Everything will begin at 10am, so get ready to jump, roll, kick, and have a great time. Get teams together and play Human Foosball.
Parking:
There are four schools around Churchill Meadows. There is plenty of parking around. Sponsors, Staff, Event Volunteers, and Vendors will have reserved parking in the small lot off of McDowell Drive.
Awards Ceremony:
I keep mentioning the Awards Ceremonies, when is it?? Who is it for??
It’s for all North Mississauga Soccer League players/teams. The schedule is on the website here. All teams, including those not playing on Saturday, the 25th will have their awards at their scheduled time. Please be early to your time slot – as we have 2,000 players to get awards done for!

Coach of the Year Awards:
Each division of our House League will present a “Coach of the Year” Award.
Please help us in honoring these fantastic volunteers that have been working with your players all summer.
The 2018 Coach of the Year Awards will be announced at the Awards Ceremony on Saturday, August 25 (at your scheduled age group award time)
Sportsperson of the Year Awards:
At the Awards Ceremonies – a player from each team in the North Mississauga Soccer League will be selected by their Team’s coach to receive the “2018 Sportsperson of the Year Award”.
Congrats to all participants in the league this year. We really hope this new award will showcase the teamwork, effort, and hard work you have put in this season.
Playoff Schedule:
The U14 and U16 boys and girls teams will be battling for the right to reign supreme throughout the day at Churchill Meadows and O’Connor Park. Matches kick-off at 9am and run through 6pm (U16 Final). It will be an exciting day of Footy! Playoffs are on the PowerUp System

Equipment Drop-off:
House League Coaches, please return your equipment bag. We will be there at the Fun Day with a truck to load the equipment. If you are unable to bring the equipment on Saturday, please bring to the clubhouse next week.
EA Sports FIFA 18 Soccer Tournament:
We will have 8 machines on site, with 4 totally dedicated to FIFA2018 Tournament Play. We are working with ESports Tournament providers We Got Games to provide you this awesome opportunity!
Each tournament will run about an hour and a half to an hour and 45 minutes. These knockout tournaments will run every couple hours at 11am, 1pm, & 3pm.
Winners will receive a prize (TBD). You have to pre-register here

Volunteers:
We are looking for 15-20 volunteers to assist with the event. If you interested in volunteering please contact Ryan, rflammini@nmsc.net . It will be a great opportunity to complete volunteer hours while giving back to the club!
Contingency Plan:
The NMSC Fun Day is a rain or shine event! In the case of a thunder/lightning storm we will wait 30 minutes for it to clear up. Participants will be asked to move to a safe place for the time being.
For the teams that have games scheduled on Saturday, we will follow the same protocol: in the case of thunder/lightning storm we will wait 30 minutes for it to clear up. If the game has reached the 40th min, it will be considered complete. If the game has not reached the 40th minute, it will be postponed and rescheduled for next week.
